|Hannibal, Missouri…America’s Hometown
Hannibal, Missouri is the boyhood home of Samuel
Clemens, known around the world as Mark Twain. The author made Hannibal famous
in his classic books, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and the sequel,
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It’s a picturesque town on the Mississippi
River whose docking port draws huge passenger riverboats like the American Queen
to its shores. Hannibal boasts a lively downtown historic area. People from
all over the world tour its many wonderful tourist attractions every year.
Palmyra, Missouri has been
called “the handsomest city in Missouri.” More than 200 antebellum structures
lend a quaint and authentic feel to this community seven miles west of the
Mississippi River. It owes its nickname, The Flower City, to its explosion of
foliage scattered throughout the town. That has also given rise to the annual
Flower City Festival full of music, crafts, and games.
